THE LOCAL MARKET

The closing of the school holidays saw a notable increase in activity in the property market. Sales increased by an impressive 30.5 per cent compared to the previous week, with REIWA members reporting a total of 938 transactions. House sales increased by 43 per cent and unit sales rose by 41.3 per cent.

The inventory of properties on the market also saw slight fluctuations, with a total of 3,716 properties available for sale by the end of the week, marking a modest 0.7 per cent increase from the previous week. Despite this rise, overall listings remain lower than both the previous month (6.4 per cent) and the same period last year (45.6 per cent).

In the rental market, there was a rise in available properties, with 2,045 properties for rent by the week’s end, up by 4.2 per cent from the previous week. Not only did sales transactions increase, but the rental sector also experienced notable activity. REIWA members reported 630 properties leased, marking a significant 26.8 per cent increase from the previous week.
