As we embrace the last weekend of the summer school holidays, here at White House, we are continuing to see strong buyer activity in 2024 and short days on market for some properties. Last week we put another two properties under offer in less than a week – both with multiple offers.

The good news is, our appraisals are supporting our expectation that more sellers will look to bring their properties to market once the school holidays finish and children return to school next week.

THE LOCAL MARKET

We are starting to see a slight increase in the number of listings available for sale as January marches on. REIWA is reporting there were 3,864 properties for sale at 21st January 2024, which is a 1.9 percent increase from the week prior. Despite this modest increase, this current figure is 2.8 percent lower than numbers seen four weeks ago and remains a whopping 46.8 percent lower than this time last year. The total number of properties for sale includes 2,020 houses, 1,072 units and 772 blocks of land. There was a strong increase in turnover as property sales saw 34.1 percent increase to 830 compared to the previous week, which was only slightly higher than last year, with this being just 1.1 percent higher than the number of sales seen 52 weeks ago.

Over the past seven days, the team at White House have put two properties under offer – one in Beaconsfield and one in Mosman Park, both in less than seven days on the market and with multiple offers.
